Good golly. Did you read in the Sunday Times (8 May 2005) about the 'vices' adopted by the Japanese youngsters. A list compiled by the Tokyo authorities listed 'offences' which includes using strong perfume, carrying large bags, kissing, infants crying, sitting on the floor and using an umbrella to practise golf swings. I am not saying we have the same 'quirks' but it is the principle of it.
Can we compare our youngsters with our 'old' ways. At the dinner table, we would wait for our father to turn the fish. Nowadays, you'd be lucky to get a morsel.I bought a tin of butter cookies. The next day, not only could I not find a cookie, even the tin was missing. But we have to expalin by reiterating the 'old' days and 'proper' behaviour. We would never dare to stretch our legs in front of elders, pass behind them or even sit 'higher' than them. This too was related to my children. I will not be accussed of bringing up 'rude' children. It is tough these days with the rubbish they see on TV, but I used it in an educational way by pointing out what should NOT be way. Just have to get round it as there is no way to keep them cocooned as it might be worse when they are exposed when they are on their own. What say you ... Aiyaa, tak tau lah ...
